Abstract. In the paper the methods of getting hydrophobic oil sorbents by surface modification of expanded vermiculite by organic siloxanes have been considered. Concentration of emultion modificators on water and organic basis and their expense in relation to mass of expanded vermiculite have been stated. The experiment on determining retentivity to oil products and property of hydrophobic sorbents floatability has been carried out. The behavior of surface of the synthesized sorbents has been researched by electron microscopy.
