Arctic: Modernization of regional gas-transport system in Euro-Russian geoeconomic and political cross-roads
Abstract. The paper estimates the destructive effect of geopolitical instability in Ukraine on the dynamics of the Russian gas transport system; the estimation has been made accounting optimization of natural gas supplies to the EU in terms of increasing production of shale gas in the USA and possibly in the south-east of Ukraine. Social and economic development of Russia is affected as well considering the decisive role of the gas industry in the national economy.
