Influence of the pentlandite composition on its flotation characteristics (by roentgenometric data)

Abstract. On the basis of the published data, microprobe and XRD-analyses it has been established that in the composition of the cooper-nickel ores (the Pechenga mining field) there are four types of pentlandite: ferriferous, usual, nickeliferous and cobaltous. The pentlandite composition influences on floatation properties of mineral. It has been experimentally proved that the nickeliferous pentlandite floats well enough, the cobaltous one - worse, and the pentlandite with a heightened iron content has the least floatoactivity.
