PDFRead

Abstract. The paper has addressed the causes of service reliability decrease of a high pressure fuel pump driving gear. To obtain the relevant data the timing gear of the marine engine 6L525 has been theoretically analyzed and experimentally tested. A mathematical model of the gear’s idler vibration has been proposed. The idler in the model has been viewed as a rigid body fixed on a flexible pin with axial and radial clearances and exposed to irregular force excitation. The driving force has been represented by a sine curve with a jump. The presence of the nonlinear resonance in the system’s dynamic has been shown. The paper also provides some recommendations on increasing the service reliability of the mechanism.
