PDFRead

Abstract. The paper presents the major landmarks in the life of the outstanding Russian thinker Lev Platonovich Karsavin (1882-1952): studies in Petersburg, two-year assignment abroad (France, Italy), election to become the first, after the revolution, rector of the Petrograd University, deportation on the "philosophers' ship", emigration, exile and death in the Abez' camp; as well as the major landmarks of his creative activity: historian of medieval studies, religious philosopher, theoretician of the Evrazijstvo movement, religious poet. The major notions of Karsavin's concept of personality have been clarified: moment-qualitating (moment-kachestvovanie), contractio, all-timeliness, theoretical and practical cognition, personality, symphonic personalism.
